CLOTHING & SWIM

Care guide

SILK

SILK

Silk is a very delicate fabrication and care should always be taken when worn. Removing your jewellery before dressing is a great way to ensure pulls are not formed in the fabric and to preserve its condition.

Store your silk in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. Avoid storing silk fabrications in plastic as these fabrics need to breathe.

LINEN

LINEN

Linen is a very durable fabrication that improves and softens with wear. Due to the relaxed weave of linen, the face of the fabric is generally textured and natural variations or ‘slubs’ may appear.

Slubs maintain an organic look and are a natural characteristic of the fabrication. Thanks to its durability, linen is the perfect ally to create a wardrobe of timeless pieces made to last.

Store linen fabrication as flat as possible to reduce wrinkles and creases.

KNITWEAR

KNITWEAR

Cashmere and delicate yarns require specific care. Avoid allowing these fabrics to come into contact with harsh surfaces to reduce pilling.

Always store your knitwear in a cool, dry, dark place and store as flat as possible. Avoid storing your knitwear on a hanger as this can cause stretching, this includes crochet styles.

DENIM

DENIM

Increase the lifespan of your denim by washing only once every few wears. Increasing the number of wears between washes helps reduce the environmental footprint of denim throughout its lifetime by cutting down on water and energy use.

Zimmermann denim may be washed separately, inside out in a cold machine wash with mild detergent unless otherwise stated on the care label. Liquid detergent is recommended.

SWIMWEAR

SWIMWEAR

When proper care is taken with your ZIMMERMANN swimwear it will remain a staple in your summer wardrobe for longer which helps reduce waste and other environmental impacts.

As a guide, follow these rules when caring for your swimwear:
• Do not roll up when wet. Rinse thoroughly after use
• Cold hand wash separately
• Dry in shade
• Do not bleach or iron
• Avoid contact with high temperature pools and spas
• Avoid contact with suntan lotions, oils, and rough surfaces

JEWELLERY

The materials used in our jewellery vary from collection to collection. The best way to care for your jewellery is to avoid contact with perfumes, acetones, hand/body creams and water as this may cause damage or discoloration. When exercising, swimming, or showering always try to remove your jewellery.

To clean your jewellery and remove dirt and dust you may use a soft cloth. Avoid using cleaning products as these can cause damage.

Store jewellery in a jewellery box away from moisture, direct sunlight, and heat.

SUNGLASSES

SUNGLASSES

Clean your sunglasses by gently rubbing them with a lens cleaning cloth and a liquid cleaner specifically designed for eyewear lenses. Whenever setting down your frames, place them lens side up to avoid scratching and when they are not being worn, place them inside the protective case.

Avoid leaving your sunglasses in the car, especially on hot days, to prevent warping. Wearing sunglasses on the top of your head can stretch the hinges over time, try to avoid this if possible.

Sunglasses should always be stored in their protective case to prevent scratching to the lens.

LEATHER GOODS

LEATHER GOODS & HATS

Store your leather goods in a dust bag away from moisture and direct sunlight.

Hats should always be stored flat to preserve their shape. If possible, store your hat in a hat box.

LAUNDERING

GARMENT CARE

STEAMING

STEAMING

Steaming is a great way to make your garments look fresh in between dry cleaning or hand washing. Steaming not only removes wrinkles and creases from your garments, but it can also be beneficial in killing odor-causing bacteria, ideal for garments you shouldn’t wash often.

Care must be taken when using a steamer at home. Avoid pressing the steamer nozzle directly onto the fabric, you may choose to steam the garment inside out.

Some garments, such as those with pleats, must only be steamed very lightly. Not all garments can be steamed, for further assistance please visit your local boutique or contact client services.

HAND WASHING

HAND WASHING

Occasionally the care label on garments suggests handwashing. Proper care must be taken when hand washing to prevent damage.

When hand washing it is recommended that you use cold water and a mild detergent, preferably liquid. Avoid using a delicate or wool cycle on your washing machine as this feature may not be suitable for delicate garments.

To dry your garment after handwashing, it is recommended that you gently squeeze out the water and lay your washing out flat on a clean towel away from direct sunlight. Do not wring the wet garment as this can cause stretching.

DRY CLEANING

DRY CLEANING

When taking your garments to your dry cleaner it is important to note the dry-cleaning code on your care label.

Dry cleaning code F means your professional dry cleaner will use petroleum-based solvents.

Dry cleaning code P means your professional dry cleaner must not use trichloroethylene in the cleaning process as this chemical may be damaging to delicate items of clothes.

SUSTAINABLE LAUNDERING

SUSTAINABLE LAUNDERING

Cleaning correctly and at wider intervals helps reduce our wardrobe’s environmental footprint: it reduces the use of energy, water and chemicals and extends the life of our clothes.

For this reason, clothing should be washed or dry cleaned only when necessary, for example, to remove tough stains. Letting the garment air out after wearing it to give the fabric time to breathe will often work wonders in reducing laundering frequency.

With proper care, ZIMMERMANN garments should live in your wardrobe for a long time. However, if the time comes to part ways with your Zimmermann piece, please consider whether repairing, resizing, re-styling or donating the item could further extend its life. Otherwise, please consider recycling.
