Z x Zurich
Now open in Augustinergasse 15, 8001 Zurich, Switzerland

Zimmermann is pleased to announce the opening of its first boutique in Zurich, Switzerland. Positioned on the corner of Münzplatz and Augustinergasse - one of the city’s most historically significant streets - the boutique brings Zimmermann’s distinctive retail experience to the heart of Zurich’s Old Town.
Designed by long-term collaborators Studio McQualter, the boutique is housed in a restored heritage building. Once a butcher shop in the late 1800s, the site has been completely transformed – its new interiors offering a warm, contemporary elegance that feels a world away from its former life.
“Zurich is a city of contrasts – steeped in history, yet incredibly forward-thinking. I love that our boutique is in the Old Town, with all its charm and character, but the space itself feels entirely modern. We always look to honour the story of the architecture while making it feel like Zimmermann, and I think this boutique really captures that balance.” – Nicky Zimmermann, Creative Director & Co-Founder.
From the street, six full-height windows offer an insight into the brand’s elegant world. Inside, three retail spaces are united by their terrazzo flooring and white high-gloss walls, a finish that follows up to the ceiling, creating a sleek environment for the stainless-steel wardrobes that house the Ready-to-Wear collection. Attention to detail is apparent in the soft edges framing the wardrobes, ensuring balance within the space. Each room showcases unique elements of its own, with one housing an impressive display of bags on floating custom stone shelving.

Zimmermann’s signature approach to boutique design is evident throughout: a curated tension between vintage and contemporary design pieces, bold colour palettes, Australian art, and a sensitivity to the rich history of each location. The Zurich lounge area is a perfect example. Its warm brown walls and luxurious golden carpet provide a rich backdrop for a 1970s sofa reupholstered in textured wool. A custom stone and brass mantelpiece anchors the space, flanked by a paneled mirrored wall, and crowned by a painting from Australian artist Tom Polo – a bold and unexpected flourish. Opposite, an existing structural beam has been clad in custom timber, a respectful nod to the building’s Swiss heritage. A raw aluminium cubic display adds the final modern touch, spotlighting the brand’s growing footwear range.
